Hi Guys,

This question came up last week and I didnt know the answer.   Partly because it was nearing midnight and I had a few beers on me....

But anyway....

Can anyone confirm or not that fresh install of Windows 10 disables system restore by default?  If so, why?

I've noticed this behavior when building new win10 enterprise images. Wasn't sure if it was a hyperv thing, or a C drive sizing thing or what, but we always disable system restore anyway so we weren't concerned.

Maybe it's just an enterprise thing. I shall check!

My new tablet with Win 10 Home upgraded to Pro has it enabled.
My old-as-the-hills Win 10 Enterprise (upgraded in place from 7 to 8, 8 to 8.1, and 8.1 to 10 has the system drive's system restore enabled.

I had to install Win 10 Ent. on my work notebook last week and System Restore was enabled for the system drive by default

The thing that comes to mind is that IIRC some anti-malware tools disable System Restore as it gets in their way somehow.  Dunno the details.
