Hi all.

Anyone has a link how does windows 10 sign in option with email account works? I can understand the logic with Microsoft accounts. I mean you been authenticated from Microsoft servers but what about if you use your personal email like yahoo.com or company mail? How does the authentication works? How does window knows what is the correct pass for that email?

Hi,

a 'microsoft account' does not necessarily require an @outlook.com or a @hotmail.com address. You can create a microsoft account with virtually any e-mail address you have access to. Mine, for instance, is bound to a domain I personally own.

So your email with a different domain is associated with microsoft servers as a microsoft account correct? Bound to it as you said it?

i have found this link

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-security/microsoft-account-vs-local-account-on-windows-10/da6826f7-5e9b-48bf-8e0d-bf25456b4e0e?auth=1

In my opinion it seems that using a local account and not a email account to sign in is more secure than using your own email account?

in our work enviroment we do not join the laptops on the domain. We use mobile switch app to let them have access so i noticed some users use their email account to sign in and some others just use a local account.
