Are you guys and girls also having trouble with Windows Automatic Update on Win2016 servers ?
We're struggling with it for several months now.

In best case the GUI shows a "I cannot update" message and with sconfig.cmd we are able to do the update anyway. In worst case the server does a reboot after installing the update and ends in a endless loop saying "restarting".  WSUS or not, same results.

Apparently, you're not alone not that it should make you feel better.

Weve seen problems with the cu process taking huge resources and then running out of resources. Most of them went away by adding more mem. I read the thread and im thinking its a similar problem. Can you just try and add 8gb to the vm?

Weve aldo seen timeouts and so because of the dualscan introduced in ws16 and our servers nog having a direct internet connection..

Hi Dennis, thanks for the reply.

I'll try to increase the RAM, although I didn't see RAM shortage.

Concerning dualscan: same conclusion. What do you mean with "servers not having a direct internet connection" ?
We have a firewall policy that allows the servers to connect to several MS FQDN's for updating, but I think that maybe there still is a firewall problem. I would like to test with bypassing our firewall all the way.
