When our VM restart on VMware Vsphere we are unable to Remote Desktop Connect (RDC) to the VM.
We have to launch VMware client to restart the VM server again.  Then we can use RDC.

anyone have a suggestion why this happen?

Charles,

We need a bit more info, right now all we know is you have a pain....not exactly sure where or when.

Are you saying the VM restarts unexpectedly?
Can you ping it?
Get a response/ ARP entry?
Whats in the event logs?

Sorry about that.

I am saying when the VM restarted unexpectedly, or when someone restarts the VM from Remote Desktop Connect. No longer able to remote into the VM without using VMware client.  Then after the restart from VMware on the client side, we are able to remote into the VM and ping it.

The logs seem to show everything as normal. unable to ping it also.

I just don't understand why?

Hi,

try adding a DWORD ARPRetryCount with a value of 0 to the Regkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters and rebooting.
