I asked this question on Facebook.   The response I got was not what I was expecting....

A flat no, even if you have no Surface already!

The detail i got back was flaky as to why people said this, but essentially it was that the Surface Book wasn't ready for the primetime, and that the Pro 4 was overpriced.

I would value other opinions.....   but in the mean time, I got a Dell XP 13 with the Skylake processor...    I will report back on that when it arrives!

I like my SP4, but I liked my SP3 too.  For me it's mostly about keeping up with what my clients are always asking about/wanting to deploy, so I turn my hardware over fairly quickly and always stay current.

What you should definitely consider regardless is the new type cover - it's fantastic and is head and shoulders above even the SP3 generation one.  I was hoping the SP4 would solve some of my intel/4k woes but Microsoft/intel are still kind of screwing the pooch on that one.  Very annoying.

But overall it's a fantastic machine.  I do like the decreased bezel on the SP4 and the higher res (although for some people, the res on the SP3 is preferable - depends on your eyes!).

I agree that the SP4 is overpriced. When it comes down some I'll probably upgrade my SP2.

I'd be interested to hear more about why people think the SB is not ready for primetime.

I'm interested to hear about the keyboard improvements on the pro 4.  I have recently been given a pro 3 for work along with a dock for my desk.  Today is my first day working at home so I am working solely on the Surface's keyboard and, well, OUCH.  I just don't like the feel and my rate of typos is through the roof.  Is the pro 4 one that much better??  It looks like it's only 130 dollars and fits the pro 3.....

Yes it's that much better. Much stiffer and has raised keys. Go try it out at the MS store if you have one nearby. The trackpad is also much improved.

Come to think of it, my boss has a pro4.  I'll see if I can borrow his keyboard for a day or so.

Thanks.

Not what one wants to hear!

I've a HP ProBook650 and a Dell Inspiron 13 2 in 1 both on win 10 and both have the video/ video drivers issue, both have different video cards.

On the flip side, for some unknown reason...  My wife's YOGA Pro 2 was headed for the trash bin while on 8.1.  The sketchy touchscreen, horrible battery life, and horrific IE experience was beyond maddening.  There was also the weekly disappearing printer drivers that nearly sent the printer to the curb as well.

Since loading WIN 10 its GREAT!!  Its night and day.  Touch screen works great.  New IE is normal (still use Chrome 90%) and the printer has not had a single issue.  Battery is rubbish but that a Lenovo issue.

So WIN 10 saved this laptop and have not a single issue since installing it.
