K12 environment.  I need to force double-click instead of the single-click functionality that makes Explorer behave like a website.

The settings in the GUI are here:  Control Panel > Folder Options > General TAB
Double-click.png

For the life of me I can't find the setting in GPO.  I found the settings in GPO for the View TAB in Folder Options, but not the General TAB.

I'm probably staring right at it.....

You'll have trouble finding it because it's just one bit in a bitmap that for some reason Microsoft has not made very controllable.  I so wish I could have a GP that says "show me extensions (I'm not an idiot), show me hidden files, and set Explorer to "details" everywhere."

Ah well.

Thanks, Mark

On to Plan B....

And thanks, Joe.  That link will come in useful.  [thumb]

Well, it's not IMPOSSIBLE.  The plan would be to (1) find the thing -- sorry, I used to know but don't any more -- and (2) find a set of settings you like and just make that a regedit/s or a reg hack.  A pain, yes, but do-able.

On the old forum I had something similar.  I had to gray out the choices for HTML & Rich Text on Outlook.  I had to find the GUID(?) of the buttons then make the change against that value in GP for it to take affect.  I am paraphrasing since it has been a couple of years, but I "think" that will work here as well.

I will see if I can find the old Word Doc I had on it...

So GP Preferences does include a section for managing "Folder Options" (see below). I had heard anecdotally that it may be broken in later versions of Windows client, but worth a try:

Eric,

I found my notes on how I fixed my issue, not sure if it will help with setting the Dbl-Click unless you can see something in the properties..?

Hey, Darren!  Good to see you - it's been awhile since I've had an opportunity to speak with you.

I did find this area and got really excited....but it looks like it's missing the settings that I need.  It's like they left half of the GUI options out.

Guess it's time to dust off RegMon (or whatever the new name is now) that Mark Russinovich wrote and see if I can find the Reg key that is flipped (that was Plan B, but I was hoping to avoid that).  [smile]

Thanks for the help, everyone!

Eric-
Good to hear from you as well! And doh, yes, you're right--that particular dialog is not in there. Too bad. They *almost* got it right [smile].

Eric,

In the PDF I attached scroll down to the this part -

Built-in Control Scanner You use Built-in Controls Scanner to find command bar names and built-in controls IDs.
http://www.add-in-express.com/products/commandbars-controls-ids.php

This "may" help you identify the setting you need to target.
