Hi all,

With HyperV on 2016 and 2019 what is the best practice for VHDX's?

Fixed or dynamic?

Cheers

Hi,

with Gen2 VMs it doesn't matter, performance-wise, 99% of the time. If you do not allow storage overcommitment, there is nothing gained or lost from either type. If you do allow overcommitment (which obviously is only possible with dynamic VHDXs) you need to keep a close eye on the disk usage but can accomodate more VMs for a limited period of time.
