Hi,

When migrating from Server 2008 DC's to Server 2016 DC's does it matter in which order you do the following?

- Move the FSMO roles
- Make the 2016 Servers in to DC's
- Migrate from FRS to DFSR
- Demote the 2008 Servers out of the Domain

Cheers

When you do the migration from FRS to DFSR the SYSVOL folder on all existing DC's will be copied from "C:\Windows\SYSVOL" to "C:\Windows\SYSVOL_DFSR".  The old folder "C:\Windows\SYSVOL" will remain, but not in use. Can be confusing.
Any new DC after the DFSR migration will use "C:\Windows\SYSVOL".  Even more confusing.

If you don't like that, you can do the migration on the old DC's. They're going away anyway.
So :
1. Migrate from FRS to DFSR on the Win2008R2 DC's
2. Make the 2016 Servers in to DC's
3. Move the FSMO roles
4. Demote the 2008 Servers out of the Domain
=> all DC's have "C:\WindowsSYSVOL".

Not really important, just a little bit less confusing afterwards.
