VMware infrastructure
Shared storage
Some performance issues - related to storage IOPS

In troubleshooting the issue one of of the servers I found a VHD, a 54TB VHD with 1TB assigned as per the image.
No Windows Backup running or installed.
Azure File and Folder was deployed and in use, but performance was terrible and it kept re-syncing.

The server has 2 vmdks in vCentre as per the C and E Drive.
No SCSI management installed...
So, how do I track where the disk is....

I will set it to offline and see what happens. I don't expect the world to fall in but am curious.

Not sure if we understand the question but from what we think you're asking -

"You would look in the settings for the VM.  Each of the allocated drives have a location that is visiable in the settings, pointing to a datastore.  datastore can then be mapped to LUN/Array."

Tim

Its a VMware environment - so vCentre should see all drives...
But I only have 2 disk attached, my C and E Drives.
No RDM's mapped.

My oddball is the 54TB VHD, which is provisioned somewhere, or worse some sort of mount point error that used to have almost a TB of data.

And I'm wondering is there any way in the OS to see where its getting the mapping from?

I guess I'll never know.

I made the disk offline.
Stopped the CA RHA Service (think this was the undocumented issue) and disabled it.
Rebooted.
Crossed fingers and drank.

Server came back up with a  huge Disk IOPS reduction.
