I rolled back to Windows 7 about 3 months ago after a Sunday wasted with a restore due to Windows 10 bootup issues (I  did an in place upgrade back in July of last year)

Couple of tools out there to assist with deploying Windows 10 on your timeline, and not Microsoft's:

There are many ways to block the update.  I  must have disabled windows updates in the control panel the day that I bought my win 7 laptop. I never had a problem.

Add these to the registry if not already present.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Gwx]
"DisableGwx"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\OSUpgrade]
"ReservationsAllowed"=dword:00000000

Looks like Microsoft is learning from the hackers?   http://www.wnd.com/2016/05/bill-gates-of-hell-windows-10-hijacks-computers/

Don't think that Mac isn't spying or trying to control you too.  An iTunes user had songs replaced by the 'official' version & other songs deleted. Luckily, he had backups. It happened twice. My guess is that the RIAA had their hands in there somewhere.

Apple sent representatives to his house to "work with him".  It sounded like a lot of crap to me.  Personally, I wouldn't have let them near me or my network.
