Our users use Remote Destop Gateway with a smartcard logon for connecting to a RD server in our company.  We have a lot of complains after installing update 1607, the Anniversary Update

see also https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/Windows/en-US/5871a96e-b80e-4c67-9b0c-1ff8f64565b4/windows-10-1607-update-not-working-with-remote-desktop-gateway-server?forum=win10itprogeneral.

At the moment we advise them to reinstalling the Safenet Authentication Client, that's the tool that goes with the smartcard.

Any other thoughts, better solutions, suggestions ?

I'm still having problems with users that upgraded their PC's to  Windows 10 version 1607.
Some of them can't use RDGateway anymore.
The RD Gateway server is Win2008R2.

Anybody any idea how I can solve that problem ?

Don't know if this will help, but here goes.

1.  Does your router have a static IP address or are you using a DDNS service?
2.  Is port 443 opened in your router?
3.  Check the RDP/RDG Connection dialog on the workstations, to see if any settings have changed.
     a.  Check the Advanced Tab>Settings, to see if the Radio Button "Use these RD Gateway server settings" is selected, and either the DNS or DDNS server name is entered in the box.
     b.  In the General tab, double check to see if the Computer and User Name fields are still correct.

I realize these are baby steps, but I had a similar situation when I switched from a 2008 R2 server to a newer 2012 R2 box, and again when I switched ISPs from one that allowed DDNS to one that required a static IP.  Each time I made the switch, the settings had to be changed/corrected.

Hope this helps a little.

Thanks for the reply Creacon.
RD Gateway is still working fine. But some -not all- of the updated Win10 client can't connect anymore. It must have something to do with the Windows 10 anniversary update on some client PC's. Can't figure out what.

Yes, that %$**@ anniversary update is a pain; of that there's no question.  However I haven't had any problems using RDP since it installed.

If you haven't done so, check the RDP connection dialogs in the workstations to make sure nothing got changed there.

That, unfortunately, is the extent of my knowledge.  You might also try posting your question to Microsoft TechNet;

I run the "LTSB 2016" version of win10 (based on the 1607 feature set) and we haven't run into this FWIW.

Could it be this issue?
http://www.360ict.nl/blog/windows-10-anniversary-cant-connect-to-remote-desktop-gateway/

If so, it will be fixed if you run MS update.
