I'd like to toss my website into azure.  Can someone provide the quick and dirty steps so I get a general idea what I'm doing and where I'm going.  Once I've got that I can dive into each step to get up to speed.

TIA

Depends on how elaborate you want it. Most simple :get a subscription and create a Web app

I wouldn't. Create a SQL database and a Web app in azure and migrate the content.
But, if you do want to migrate the box as a whole you just would copy the vhd's to a storage account. And create a new vm from that vhd: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/virtual-machines-windows-upload-image/

If it's not a virtual machine you can create a vhd by doing a native backup, and upload that
