Intel and AMD both will be Windows 10.

This can have an odd effect.

Dual and quad proc laptops could be in demand for firms that want to keep Win7.

MS may continue Win 7 support for business.  Didn't they do that for XP?  In another post, I mentioned that I recently went into a federal credit union. I intended to open an account until I saw that they were still running XP.

Like many businesses, MS is looking at the bottom line. Apparently, they were successful getting their friends at Intel & AMD, to join their crusade.

Curt, I posted a similar article back in January ( http://newforum.minasi.com/post/new-intel-processors-will-only-support-windows-10-7898441?pid=1290633826 ). We were told that business computers would still support Windows 7 until early next year as businesses still had legacy applications that they still needed to run. But after that, it will only be Windows 10 supported on the new Skylake processors. That's because a bunch of the new security measures in Windows 10 are tied to the abilities of the processor, but the new processors get no benefit from the Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 operating system.

Thanks Dennis for that added piece of information.   Even in a cloud world we still have to remember that it's a hardware world as well.

Also , Win 7 proved to be stable on laptops so a mobile force will still be looking to avoid business disruptions in devices that are hard to manage.
