Shouldn't that be alternative facts - like Raid0 is redundant...

Folks,

My 2 cents - the US is a long haul flight.
While Hawaii is a cool sounding idea, its a serious travel commitment for a European to make (saying to kids/ wife/ partner, its an IT meetup, you'd hate it.....right how heavy is a lead balloon?)

Florida is Marks home now.
Virginia Beach worked I recall for Mark as there were no travel costs for him.
Plus he was in VB at the time/ no travel or other conventions.

So we need a rough date - 2018 or late 2017?
Need a location - Florida?
Need an agreement from the man.

Well, there is no MVP Summit this year.  So that's one event that Mark will not have.

From time to time it's been in November.

Ignite is in Orlando in September 25th to 29th.  If Mark is speaking he will be pretty busy with talks for that.

So November till Dec is "Holiday Time" .  That always gets in the way.

Bringing some of Ignite to the Minasi Convention would be good content.

Ed Wilson just retired so I don't think he is going to do anything. Perhaps he would do some PS stuff for us.    We need speakers that will make the attendance worth it.

So for I have not seen too many members involved in the thread so I don't know if we are dreaming or what!~!~!!

I've asked before but will again one more time.

in an effort to allow some of use to have the trip covered by our training budget, would it not help to piggy back an existing event such as the PowerShell Summit in Seattle..?  Mark and I will be there once again this year and this is a smaller event without the chaos of the larger events.

My trip for this is covered this year but I guarantee if I were to ask about a Forum Conf anywhere in the US it would not be taken into consideration...

Just an option to consider.

I'd make it if it were in Seattle. TBH probably wouldn't do orlando until at least 2018/2019 when my girls are old enough to appreciate disneyworld

Getting past the RAID 0 comment, the most likely outcome is a trip to Florida.  Not ideal for some, I get it, but if history is any teacher that will be the most likely thing to happen.

I agree James.  And unless we get at least 30 people being part of this thread there is no point on discussing it further.   We need commitment.   Things happen that cause people to not make it so we need commitment of many to make up for those with unforeseen circumstances.

It's nice to have some "big names" do talks at the conference, but if you remember, the original intent of the Forum Meetup was to give ordinary IT guys the opportunity to do talks and feel comfortable doing presentations. And from the first Forum Meetup and through the following conferences, we ended up with a number of ordinary IT presenters becoming Microsoft MVP's, working for Microsoft, starting their own IT consulting businesses, writing books, etc., and motivating a group of IT people to be better at their jobs.

So hopefully we keep up with that part of the conference ideals.

I would offer a commitment with the forcefulness of a wet noodle.  Chances that my company would pay for this or any other IT-related gettogether are pretty much zero.  I got to go to one in December, and that was the first in several years.  So any travel will be on my own dime.

With that said, I have a sister living in Miami, FL, and I have a long-held desire to spend more time in Seattle after a brief vacation there more than a decade ago.  So either of those two locations just might be enticing for me.

On the plus side, I have a fair amount of vacation coming to me this year.

Maybe it's with the focefulness of an al dente noodle.
