Friend of mine as the following question.

I was wondering if you have ever seen an distinguishedName in AD that looks like the below one?

distinguishedName  CN=orbops\.OU=Users

Is the back slash allowed on a Distinguished Name?

Curt,

while the backslash is indeed allowed in a DN, the format is invalid. Full stop doesn't need to be escaped so \. does not stand for a full stop. Backslash, on the other hand, is the escape character and would have to be escaped so "orbops.\" would translate to "orbops.\\" in a DN. In any case, the comma before OU is missing.

Hi Curt,

what is the context of this? This is not a valid DN for AD. At best, it is a mangled RDN (partial name).
