This one made me giggle.  I appreciate what MS is trying to do with Flash Fill.  The thing is pretty intelligent and makes good guesses some of the time.  But when it's wrong, it can really mess up a spreadsheet.

Here I would have wanted it to use the phrase "Peaks at 8am and mostly holds" down the whole column, if anything at all.  In this case I didn't even want that.  But what it was going to fill for me is kind of hilarious ... it was thinking the MO of mostly was going to be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday ...

So if you've ruined as many spreadsheets as I have (two was all it took), this page has instructions for turning it on.  Nothing about turning it off, but basically it's File > Options > Advanced, then uncheck Automatically Flash Fill.

Too funny!  Reminds me of the goofy spellcheck errors in the early Word days.  "Pentium" was corrected to "penis" and "Ballmer" was corrected to "balder."

I so enjoyed telling Steve that.  [smile]

OK, now I can feel a little better about the Blackberry I had to carry years ago. It was one in which each key represented multiple letters, such as "ABC," and "DEF." If you wanted an F, you could triple tap for it, or you could keep plodding a long with a single press on each button, and it was supposed to figure out the most likely word, such as THE instead of TGD.

My first name is Anne.  Last name O'Day.  Every. Single. Time.  I had to type my name out, I would get the suggestion Anne O'Fat.  Thanks blackberry, just thanks.
