I've received a few emails about my editing setup. Thought I would show a photo of it.

I added a Behringer BCF2000 midi controler with PFixer software driving it, to speed up Lightroom editing.  It's mapped to use the encoders, buttons and faders as appropriate and each of them has four LR assignments to them.  For a lot of my session, my hands don't have to leave the controller!!  Really nice!

By having the two keyboards, I can also enter commands with less movement while my right hand is on the Wacom tablet or trackball.  I also have a super trackpad right where my hand falls if I'm just browsing. [smile]

Jimi, what do you like these days for apps that suck in the raws and jpgs off the cards?

Since you showed me how to put JPGs on the SD card and the raws on the CF card, I'm loving it, as I can quickly scan the JPGs for the wildlife pix that didn't work because the stooopid birds wouldn't fly more slowly.  Of course, the pain is then that I'd like to just hit "delete" and have the "photo browser" or whatever know to delete the CR2 paired with the JPG.

Yes, Lightroom does it, but it's so slow as an image browser.  Do you know of anything simpler?

And really, getting a pic with a cardboard picture of a naked babe... so not you. [smile]

I use Photo Mechanic to ingest a quickly get rid of crap.  If I see something i know I like, I'll star it.   I do the real comparisons in LR, but PM is the fastest ingest and viewer for RAW there is. Nothing is close.  i don't think you'll find an AP or sports guy's laptop without it.

PM is a lot more than a viewer/culler. But that's pretty much all I use it for.  All the other stuff, is done by import presets within LR.

What can I say, Jimi?  You are a genius at so many things and so I must congratulate you on the 3D modeling, shading etc.

The slight pixellation around the neck, however, confirms for me that it's just some poor millennial photoshoped one of those pictures of Hillary naked that leaked out a few years ago. [smile]

Speaking of pixels, what do you use for noise these days?  Still Noise Ninja?  Or is the 5D mk III (which I assume by now is a mk IV for you [smile] ) just handle it?

Not jumping to the 5d4 for a while. No need to.  I will, but not enough improvement for my work to make a cost effective switch now.   At least that's what I'm telling myself. LOL

I've started using a Mac only Noise program that I can't remember the name of.  But most of my stuff it's not an issue.  LR is good enough as I shoot at 100 for my glam stuff. The only time I use a special NR is when I'm shooting really high ISO outdoors for special purposes/effects with minimal strobe fill.  I'll use high nr to change the skin to a different look.

I was talking about in the studio.  There I shoot 100.

In clubs it's either 1600 or 3200.
