  This REALLY is a problem.  Unless Intel and AMD have a plan, this could interrupt business all over the world.

Looks like a lot of computer and software manufacturers have a plan to provide patches:

But once a system is patched, the patch can slow down performance on the computer/server between 2% and 30%. So everyone is going to have to monitor the performance of their applications and services to see if there is any tweaks they can do to minimize the performance hit. I'm sure database software (that depends on the CPU to crunch numbers) will take a hit to performance.
