have a new QNAP TS-1253U being used as our Veeam backup repository.
Do I or do I not enable the AV in this. Is this embedded AV or use Enterprise AV depending on its OU in Active Directory?
Anyone familiar with QNAP?

I'd have the device as a private device to the Veeam Server/ Servers (private network/ backup network)

Don't enable AV on it as you want the Veeam Server to be able to write to is as fast as it can.
Have a quick look here http://helpcenter.veeam.com/backup/70/bp_vsphere/sizing_repo_io_impact.html

This is tagged as Version 7, but the numbers apply for V8 and V9 as well as most other backup solutions.
